REMOTE PSYCHOLOGICAL CARE FOR PATIENT’S FAMILIES WITH COVID-19 HOSPITALIZED IN THE ICU: AN EXPERIENCE REPORT. Psicol. hosp. (São Paulo) [online]. 2020, vol.18, n.2, pp.15-32. Epub 30-Jun-2025. The pandemic caused by the new coronavirus demanded that the world reorganize itself to try to contain the spread of the disease, as well as its impacts. This article presents the experience of three psychologists during the specialization in Health Psychology at the Hospital das Clínicas of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Sao Paulo (HCFMUSP), with remote psychological care to family members of hospitalized patients with suspected and/or diagnosed with COVID-19. In this scenario, the schedule was compromised, undergoing relevant changes, which required flexibility and commitment, to work as health professionals in the pandemic front line. The aim was to report the experiences arising from remote care for these family members, and describe the experiences lived by three psychologists during the onset of the pandemic. This type of care was proposed as an alternative to work in this scenario of crisis and social isolation, given the restrictions on hospital visits. In this context, remote care was a viable practice, with a wide reach and high adherence. As this is a recent phenomenon in the hospital environment, the use of this innovative tool can bring benefits and become an alternative not only in times of crisis. Health professionals, patients and families can benefit from the use of technological tools to optimize and expand health care, including access to mental health.
