The institutional internship experience provides to the Psychology academic one of the possibilities in the field of action, presenting theoretical-practical articulation. This activity helps in the formation of the student by enabling the evolution of knowledge and technical skills for the execution of professional competences. This report has the general objective of describing not only the institutional experience, but also highlighting the need of previous studies in the hospital discipline as a basis for the application of knowledge and practices in this sector. More specifically, it proposes the need for the student's learning process and emphasizes the importance of the role of psychology within a team. It also presents the experiences and routine of the internship in different sectors of the hospital, enabling the understanding of the psychologist's place, which goes beyond the walls of the university and recognizes the complexity of health care, in the subjectivity of the individual and relief from illness and hospitalization.
