MELO, Raquel Juliana Angela de e GOBBI, Celeste Imaculada Conceição. PSYCHOLOGICAL INTERVIEWS IN A GENERAL HOSPITAL – USERS OF CANNABIS SATIVA AND COCAINE IN BURN AND ICU. Psicol. hosp. (São Paulo) [online]. 2021, vol.19, n.2, pp.20-45. Epub 30-Jun-2025. ISSN 2175-3547. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.15489852.
According to the observed frequency of hospitalization of patients who have suffered burns and/or other traumas, with a history of illicit drug use, and the particularities in their care such as pain management and involvement with the treatment. This protocol article was made from the performance of a student of Specialization in Hospital Psychology in General Hospital, in the Burn Service and in the Trauma Infirmary and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a tertiary hospital, during the period from March to December 2021. The objective is to present the fundamental points to be considered when conducting initial psychological interviews with patients who have suffered burns and/or other traumas and who are users of illicit drugs, especially Cannabis sativa and cocaine. For the conducting initial psychological interviews, a bibliographic research on these two drugs was done and, with this data, associated to weekly supervisions, under the orientation of Freudian Psychoanalysis, some points considered fundamental to be observed in the initial interviews were highlighted: basic information about the trauma (accident or failure, participation of the subject), about drugs (physical and psychological symptoms, cognition alterations, abstinence, tolerance and dependence) and consideration of pain as a particular experience. This experience led to thinking about interventions that can promote the involvement of the subject with his treatment, in order to favor accountability for his choices, in addition to reflection on the referral of a chemical dependent for treatment in CAPS-AD, which has a greater chance of adherence when there is a desire to treat, which can be provoked during the initial psychological interviews.
