TABORDA, Denise Vieira  e  SOUZA, Gerson Hermes de. THE COGNITIVE CONSEQUENCES OF COVID-19: AN INTEGRATIVE REVIEW. Psicol. hosp. (São Paulo) [online]. 2022, vol.20, n.1, pp.58-73.  Epub 30-Jun-2025. ISSN 2175-3547.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.15519285.

The COVID-19 can cause neurological complications. This work presents an integrative review of the cognitive consequences of COVID-19. There were selected five studies published in the period from January 2020 to November 2021, being four empirical types of research and a literature review. Results and discussion covered the research instruments used to evaluate global cognition and most affected cognitive functions, predictors of cognitive impairment, and limitations and strengths of the studies. There were observed declines in memory, attention, executive functions, and language, at different levels, due to the studies using different methodological designs. Only one article did not find cognitive declines in the sample studied but found long-term impacts on mental health. All studies converge on the importance of evaluating the cognitive aspects of post-COVID-19 patients, regardless of the level of disease severity.
