Erectile dysfunction (ED) implicates in a man’s inability to reach and sustain an erection that allows for a satisfactory sexual activity. Research shows that men excessively worry about their sexual performance, strongly associated to erection, and that the severity and prevalence of ED increase of age. With sexuality being a broad and central aspect in human’s life, going beyond, the aim was developing some understanding of sexuality perceptions from men with ED. An integrative review of the Brazilian literature was carried out, in three databases, utilizing the PICo strategy. After having applied the inclusion and exclusion criteria, there were 18 results. The study revealed that masculine sexuality is treated in a biomedical and objective manner, reliant on prescription of medication. DE produces an impact on self-esteem and self perception, as well as on the sexual emotional relationship of these men, resulting in emotional difficulties and additional demands on their mental health. Their relationship with their partners may be a protective factor, in a way of comprehension and psychological support or difficulties, like fear of abandonment and insecurities. The absence of collective health actions was highlighted alongside the need to capacitate health professionals to discuss sexuality. It has been concluded that the suffering over a faulty organic function is significant, that also being associated with social and cultural instances. Therefore, part of this conjecture is the relevance of treating sexuality as a public health matter and psychosocial phenomena.
