The aim of this research was to explore significant differences in maturity for professional choice of high school students from the city of Curitiba, Brazil, considering sex, school type, attendance time (day or evening) and high school grade. A sample composed of 950 high school students, from both private and public schools located in that city, was submitted to the Maturity for Professional Choice Scale. The results indicated significant differences in maturity for professional choice concerning sex, school type and high school grade. The girls showed more maturity than the boys, students from private high school showed more maturity than students from public schools and 12th grade high school students more than 10th grade. However, no differences were observed in maturity for professional choice, concerning attendance time.
