MANSAO, Camélia Santina Murgo e YOSHIDA, Elisa Medici Pizão. SDS - self-directed search career explorer: precision and validity. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2006, vol.7, n.2, pp.67-79. ISSN 1984-7270.
The aim of this study was to evaluate some psychometric properties of the Portuguese version of the SDS (Self-Directed Search Career Explorer), a self report questionnaire designed to evaluate professional interests in high school students. The sample was composed by 1162 teenagers, attending second and third grades of high school in three different schools: two state and one private institution. The results suggested a satisfactory internal consistence (a =0,90) to exist as well as good temporal stability (testretest from seven to ten days = 0,82). The factorial analyses pointed to six factors theoretically compatible to Holland’s six professional types: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising and Conventional. It was concluded that the SDS may help to identify the interests of high school students in process of Professional Guidance, by helping them to define their professional type.
