This scope review aims to identify, analyze and synthesize the conceptual definitions of transversal and transferable competences (CTT) in higher education career studies. Searches were carried out in the ERIC, PsycInfo, MEDLINE, SciELO and LILACS databases, selecting 41 studies with explicit definitions of transversal and transferable competences. The data were organized by the MAXQDA software, codes and categories were created, constituting the dimensions for analyzing the definitions and performing a synthesis of the findings and articulations. The studies were organized into four dimensions: cognitive, professional and occupational, interpersonal and personal attributes. The findings are related to the four pillars of UNESCO Education, with a Social Economy perspective, and the Latin America Tuning Project, for professional training in Higher Education.

Keywords : competence; soft skills; professional development; university students.
