Abstract

NANA, Marcia  and  MOURAO, Luciana. Satisfaction, development and professional fulfillment: a comparative study of gender and race. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2024, vol.25, n.1, pp.5-16.  Epub Sep 06, 2024. ISSN 1984-7270.  https://doi.org/10.26707/1984-7270/2024v25n0102.

Despite women’s progress in the job market, gender and race/color inequality persists and shows that women’s entry and career path are more difficult than men’s. The aim of this study was to compare the job satisfaction, development and professional fulfillment in the health sector of women and men and white and black/brown racial groups. A total of 444 professionals from 16 health areas took part in the study (54.5% women; 59% white). Four scales were applied, with evidence of validity for Brazilian samples. The mean scores of the groups were compared using Student’s t-tests, with calculation of the effect size (Cohen’s d). The results showed differences in color/race, favoring white professionals.

Keywords : gender; professional development; professional fulfilment.
