Abstract

COSTA, Lorena Rodrigues da et al. Passion for studies: Psychometric properties and their effect in the career decision. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2024, vol.25, n.1, pp.29-40.  Epub Sep 06, 2024. ISSN 1984-7270.  https://doi.org/10.26707/1984-7270/2024v25n0104.

The aim of this study was to estimate evidence of validity of the Passion Scale for studies and to verify its predictive capacity on self-efficacy for career decision and career indecision. There was the participation of 239 college students. The two-factor model for the Passion Scale showed good fit and accuracy rates. It was found that harmonious passion for studying was a positive predictor of self-efficacy for career decision and a negative predictor of career indecision, while obsessive Passion proved to be a positive predictor of career indecision. The results corroborate the literature on the dualistic model of passion, promoting insights into contributions of harmonious engagement with studies in career decisions.
