Preparing for the ENEM involves numerous challenges for adolescents. This study aimed to identify students’ conceptions about the process of preparing for and passing the ENEM, about the day of the exam and its consequences, as well as their emotions. A Focus Group was conducted with nine students in the 3rd year of High School and the Descending Hierarchical Classification was carried out in the Iramuteq software, which resulted in four classes: Conceptions about the ENEM and emotions experienced; Consequences of the ENEM result; Perceptions about performance and Challenges and demands experienced. The research provides support for understanding the preparation for the ENEM and the impact on the mental health of adolescents for future investigations.
