PEREZ-BENITES, Gary and MALVACEDA-ESPINOZA, Eli. Vocational choice in young university students with acquired physical disabilities in Lima. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2025, vol.26, n.1, pp.48-58. Epub July 11, 2025. ISSN 1984-7270. https://doi.org/10.26707/1984-7270/2025v26n0104.
The objective was to understand the configuration of vocational choice in young university students in Lima, who suffer from an acquired physical disability before choosing a career. A qualitative research with a reflexive thematic analysis design was carried out. Ten semi-structured interviews were conducted. The results show that personal characteristics, such as physical and sociodemographic aspects; personal experience as a motivator; personal projects; academic interests generated at school; family support and influence on the decisions of the family member with a disability, and economic motivation, are essential elements in the configuration of vocational choice. It is concluded that the configuration of vocational choice is shaped by personal, family and contextual elements.
