Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of Day Care and/or Preschool Education on the career adaptability of young people attending the 9th and 12th grade from different socioeconomic levels. Participants included 271 youths (MAge = 15.46), who responded to a Sociodemographic and Academic Characterization Questionnaire and the Career Adaptability Scale. The results suggest that youths who attended Daycare and Preschool present higher levels of Concern and Curiosity than youths who attended Preschool. There are also effects of the interaction between educational paths in childhood and socioeconomic levels on these dimensions and on the total career adaptability scores. The need to continue prospective studies from childhood through adolescence is highlighted and multidisciplinary research and career psychological consultancy for educational agents.
