SILVA, Wesley Jordan Pereira da and BENDASSOLLI, Pedro F.. Processes of signification of young graduates working outside their field of study. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2025, vol.26, n.2, pp.191-202. Epub Dec 08, 2025. ISSN 1984-7270. https://doi.org/10.26707/1984-7270/2025v26n0207.
This multiple case study examined the processes of signification in the trajectories of five young graduates who work outside their field of study or are unemployed, using the Trajectory Equifinality Model. Two in-depth interviews were conducted with each of them, and intraand inter-case analyses were carried out with the material produced. The findings indicated that participants used the meanings of job, career, and calling to shape their subjective experiences with work. Work was perceived as a career or calling when related to their field of study, but when limited to survival or subsistence, it became secondary. When linked to their field, work took on new contours. The research also showed that young people resorted to hybridisms/stylizations as strategies to signify their experiences with work.
