This article discusses an experience concerning the ways to face the unemployment issue in Brazil, through the program "Psychological support for workers under unemployment situation". This program was part of a wider pilot-project conceived by the Federal Council of Psychology, which performs actions aiming to achieve Psychology's social commitment, within the practice of this profession. The experience hereby analyzed was coordinated by the Regional Council of Psychology of the 4th. Region, in Belo Horizonte. It consisted in meetings with groups of workers "under unemployment situation", in a scenery of social exclusion and suffering. This program enabled to present a few propositions to include Psychology in the formulation of social polices concerning work, employment and income creation programs.
