It is the health professionals responsibility, to large extent, to make psychiatric reform goals effective in their practices. Adaptations are necessary throughout their health formation up to service development. Thus, this work aims to investigate the conceptions health professionals hold of the specificities of their work, and to report the care opportunity experiences with professionals from three mental health staffs, searching to contribute for strategies of permanent education. Individual semi-structured interviews of 48 professionals were recorded, transcribed and qualitatively analyzed. The results obtained showed emotional overload as well as the need to improve affinity with the mental health area, to increase the number of qualified personnel, to reduce workload and to improve team communication and functioning, as well as to create spaces where professionals could be emotionally cared.
