The presence of depression and anxiety in family members of patients who died from Covid-19 in the municipality of Sobral was analyzed. Descriptive correlational study with a cross-sectional design, carried out with 100 family members of Covid-19 victims. Data collection took place from January to September 2022. Two questionnaires were used: GAD-7 and PHQ-9. The data were analyzed using statistics in the software Excel (2013), for Windows®, using the Stata/SE version 10.0 program. Regarding the presence of mental disorder, 88% showed positive symptoms. Furthermore, 24% had a severe depressive episode and 29% had an episode of anxiety, 19% had a moderate depressive disorder and 16% had a mild depressive disorder. The study raises reflections on the need for public mental health policies that involve effective interventions.
