This article discusses matrix support as a method of managing mental health care, highlighting collaborative practices, especially interprofessional communication as a fundamental basis for achieving interprofessional work in mental health matrix support in Primary Health Care. The importance of collaborative care in sharing information, clinical decisions and exchanging experiences is discussed, as well as optimizing resources and increasing recognition of the health needs of users and the population of each territory and service. Finally, we highlight Jürgen Habermas’ Theory of Communicative Action, which brings theoretical elements of communicative action to social interaction and understanding by building consensus in human relations and decision-making and guaranteeing democratic processes.
