LIMA (TICHA), Patrícia Albuquerque. Gestalt-Therapy contextualization in the universe of psychotherapeutic approaches to the new paradigm. IGT rede [online]. 2007, vol.4, n.6, pp.13-21. Epub 13-Out-2025. ISSN 1807-2526. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14903404.
Regarding all the changes that have taken place in the field of the physical sciences, which destabilized the notions of linearity, causality and order as a result of the mechanistic and reductionist schools of thought, the very foundations of all sciences were overturned and even the social sciences had to rethink and reformulate their theoretical and conceptual bases. Psychology, specifically, was also upset by the instability of this scenario, having the various psychological schools found different ways to deal with the aforesaid crisis. A number of approaches remained close to the essentialist line of thought, pinpointing in the conscience the ‘location’ of subjectivity. The Gestalt Therapy assumed the phenomenological and systemic thought as its conceptual bases in order to comprehend the present-day man. It can be affirmed, therefore, that we’re aligned with the systemic psychological schools and different kinds of psychotherapy of phenomenological-existential basis in the multiform panorama of psychotherapy lines. The most important aspects of both sides of such ‘alignment’ and its implications as for this conception of encapsulated and confined subjectivity in a psychic instance will be described below.
