SANTO, Luiz Carlos Bandeira do Espírito. Critical reflection on Psychological practices with regard to education - Foucault's perspectives: child that does not learn or school that does not teach?. IGT rede [online]. 2007, vol.4, n.6, pp.40-91. Epub 13-Out-2025. ISSN 1807-2526. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14903426.
This work is intended to analyze, from ancient Greece to the present day, the human attempt to understand its own subjectivity through the look and construction of the subject as a being that is passive to learning, its role in this process and the way this construction happened throughout history. It is also intended to identifiying the possibilities and limitations that such philosophycal questions brought up, considering those relations. Through those perspectives, we will analyze the relationship that childhood established and establishes still with the institution of school, its Pedagogical practices and scpeeches, as well as the imbricações of that concept before Education. We also considered Psychology’s role in such Pedagogical practices, when it comes to its explanations about childhood and the way it is related to the Pedagogical speech. As we will see, this science has had an important role in the construction and reproduction of some speeches that, throughout the history of the 20th century, determined the way that school has occupied children and how that institution can become the place where subjectivity is submitted to series, framing and discipline which frequently leads the student to abandonment or failure. Michael Foucault was used as a theoretical reference, in order to putting everyday Pedagogical practices under a critical review, once those could be another way to establish and/or reproduce the submission and the domination, leading the child to either failure or non-learning.
