D’ACRI, Gladys. The concept of symptom in Gestalt-therapy. IGT rede [online]. 2007, vol.4, n.7, pp.117-120.  Epub 13-Out-2025. ISSN 1807-2526.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14903442.

In Gestalt-Therapy, the concept of symptom brings important contributions for how to understand it and to consider it in the therapeutic work. Since the publication of his book, “Ego, Hunger and Aggression: a review of psychoanalysis”, in 1942, Perls discusses the notion o symptom, also showing the influences of the Holism of Jan Smuts and the Organismic Theory of Kurt Goldstein. Afterwards, he writes about this theme in some passages of his inaugural book “Gestalt-Therapy”, written with Paul Goodman and Ralph Hefferline, which marks the birth of Gestalt-Therapy. He adds other information on his other books and in those in which he participates. Contemporarily, other authors contribute with their points of view, but they add little to what Perls developed. The presente article has as its aim to present a review of the gestalt literature about this theme.

Palavras-chave : symptom; gestalt-therapy; complaint; occult gestalt.
