Gestalt therapy is a therapeutic modality, which, among other objectives, seeks to return to man’s ability to self-manage and seek new directions for your life. Thus, this Article is an account of an experience with a group of nine women, aged between 20 and 56 years, mostly with complaints of depression and anxiety. The meetings were weekly, lasting approximately ninety minutes, and occurred in the period from August to November 2009 in a room courtesy of a religious institution in Cariacica / ES. Through experiential meetings, the group was characterized by reflection on the fundamental concepts of Gestalt therapy, such as Existentialism, Phenomenology, Contact and organismic self-regulation as instruments of change and mobilizing to improve the quality of life of members. In this experience report is intended to highlight the contribution of group work in the Gestalt perspective, as an alternative to psychotherapy. Through the group, was opening channels for listening and acceptance of people’s needs, their wants and desires, trying to overcome the existing formats and invention of new ways of being, acting and being in the world.
