The main aim of this article is to understand the role of the psychologist acting in a multidisciplinary team in the treatment of adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM1) from the Gestalt therapy. DM1 is a chronic disease that primarily affects children and adolescents, and it is the result of partial or total destruction of pancreatic beta cells with consequent insulin deficiency, requiring a lot of care for good control of the disease. For this research, the methodological strategy adopted was single case study. For data collection, two instruments were used: Multidisciplinary Initial Assessment Sheet and Psychologist's Field Diary. From the synthesis of the clinical case and theoretical articulation with the Gestalt approach, it was concluded that the main role of the psychologist is to be open to dialogue from a phenomenological attitude.
