The objective was to conduct an analysis of the scientific literature, in the form of a systematic review, on the possibilities of applying Gestalt therapy, regarding its theories and techniques, in the field of Brazilian psychosocial care. Published articles could be identified, and duly indexed in the following databases: SciELO; Medline; Lilacs; and PubMed. The criteria of Preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (Prisma) were followed. Nine articles were selected that made up the corpus of this work. Studies corroborate the fact that Gestalt Therapy can contribute to the development of therapeutic strategies within the context of mental health care. As it presents itself as a humanistic approach, its presuppositions are similar to the current paradigm of mental health care, mainly to the point where it aims to perceive the person instead of the disease, as well as their adjustment processes instead of their diagnosis.
