Brazil has the highest prevalence rate of anxiety disorders in the world, and anxiety has increasingly been a reason for seeking psychotherapy, so understanding this pathology, as well as knowing how to differentiate between normal and pathological anxiety, is fundamental. to all mental health professionals. Since psychologists, as mental health professionals, deal directly with the emotional demands generated by anxiety and that, in psychology, there are several theoretical lines that base therapeutic work, this article, based on bibliographical research, aimed to elucidate anxiety from the perspective of Gestalt therapy and compile possible work alternatives within this approach to the demand of anxiety. It was concluded that Gestalt therapy is a possible way to treat not anxiety, but the person with anxiety, mainly through experiments and promotion of awareness, in the search for more creative, functional and healthy adjustments to deal not only with the anxiety, but with life.
