BACK, Beatriz Soares y PERES, Helen Beatriz. What brought you here? Creative adjustment in the children’s clinic. IGT rede [online]. 2024, vol.21, n.40, pp.4-31. Epub 12-Mayo-2025. ISSN 1807-2526. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.15150856.
This article aims to analyze and understand creative adjustment, as well as the importance of its development, already in childhood, for healthy functionality. Creative adjustment brings the way the subject deals with their experiences and the relationship between the environment/subject, and this way can be functional, where it has a balanced and viable quality and quantity, or it can be dysfunctional, where the subject has a lack contact quality and makes widespread use of creative adjustment. Thus, consequences may occur that will be appropriate to this dysfunctional adjustment and with this we can reflect how this happens in childhood, how the child copes, denying what is demanded by the other or trying in every way to seek to satisfy them, in both, leaving your needs aside.
Understanding creative adjustment is also understanding awareness, contact and a little about the history of gestalt therapy. In this article, we will try to briefly explain these issues without departing from the focus on creative adjustment.
