GOMES, Ana Paula de Almeida y FERREIRA, Wanderlea Nazaré Bandeira. The Silence That (In)Forms Me: When gestalt and oriental horizons cohabit the psychotherapeutic space-time. IGT rede [online]. 2024, vol.21, n.40, pp.32-63. Epub 12-Mayo-2025. ISSN 1807-2526. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.15150864.
In the Western scenario of noise and informational overload, listening to silence is an ethical and political movement. Since it is a central notion in Eastern philosophies such as Taoism and Buddhism, the integration of this sacred void can open up new possibilities in the care process. As silence is a potent element in the clinical space, this is a relevant discussion for Psychology. In turn, Gestalt therapy has oriental roots that open the senses to the present experience that (in)forms, even if silently. Therefore, using performative autoethnography as a methodology, this article intends to analyze the forms of cohabitation of silence in the psychotherapeutic space-time based on Gestalt therapy and Eastern philosophies, giving a central place to my life experiences. In conclusion, there are directions for valuing silence as a figural communicative element in the clinic, the powerful reencounter with the present experience and the acceptance of sound polarities that emerge in psychotherapy. Finally, I emphasize the scarcity of materials, inviting the scientific community to this discussion.
