TARDIN, Sabrina. Psychotherapeutic presence: from existential-phenomenology to contemporary Gestalt therapy. IGT rede [online]. 2024, vol.21, n.40, pp.99-125. Epub 12-Mayo-2025. ISSN 1807-2526. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.15150891.
This work presents a brief theoretical review based on the bibliographical material about concepts and ways of using the psychotherapeutic presence in Gestalt therapy and discusses the implications of the theoretical findings within the clinical practice. Intends to show how those findings have been enchained through philosophical backgrounds and essential theories. Explores the investigation on the presence and the psychotherapeutic presence in the Portuguese language; on the philosophy that guides the Gestalt therapy – the Existential-phenomenology; on its baseline theories – Gestalt Psychology, Field Theory and the Organismic Theory; on the works by Perls, Hefferline; in the specialized Gestalt bibliography published in Portuguese. Does not intend to be a typology to the therapists. Aims at setting the grounds to understand the phenomenon of the psychotherapeutic presence and analyze the use of the reflections in the contemporaneous clinical practice of the Gestalt therapy.
