ORENGO, Fabiane Villatore; HOLANDA, Adriano Furtado e GOTO, Tommy Akira. "Husserl's Phenomenological Psychology" - the (Mis)understanding of Brazilian Psychologists: An Empirical Study. Estud. pesqui. psicol. [online]. 2020, vol.20, n.spe, pp.1066-1087. ISSN 1808-4281. https://doi.org/10.12957/epp.2020.56651.
This work presents results obtained in the master's research entitled What the psychologist understands by Phenomenological Psychology whose objective was to evaluate the understanding that Brazilian psychologists have about phenomenology and phenomenological psychology. For that, an exploratory study was carried out, which had as a research tool a questionnaire developed by the researchers, in which open questions were raised about the understanding of the subject, the appropriation of concepts in professional practice and the possibility (or not) of developing a phenomenological psychotherapy. The data were analyzed using the qualitative method of Giorgi and Souza. As a result, it was found that Brazilian psychologists understand phenomenological psychology as an approach to psychology and believe that phenomenological psychotherapy is possible. We conclude that Brazilian psychologists use several concepts of phenomenology and phenomenological psychology in the description of their actions, but there is no correspondence with Husserl's proposal for phenomenology and phenomenological psychology.
