Abstract

SILVA, Leticia Oliveira da  and  PESSOA, Luciana Fontes. Children’s Emotional Regulation: An Integrative Review of Brazilian Literature. Estud. pesqui. psicol. [online]. 2025, vol.25, e73864.  Epub May 02, 2025. ISSN 1808-4281.  https://doi.org/10.12957/epp.2025.73864.

Emotional regulation is an important tool that helps individuals adapt to their social contexts. With the aim of analyzing Brazilian studies on child emotional regulation, an integrative literature review of the last 10 years was carried out. The search was carried out through the Portal de Periódicos CAPES, Scielo and LILACS, where the term “emotional regulation” and its synonyms proposed by the Virtual Health Library were used. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 20 articles were selected and analyzed. It was observed that, although production on the topic has been increasing in recent years, research whose central theme is children's emotional regulation is still scarce. It was also noted the multiplicity of theories and methods employed, although cognitive approaches are most used in these studies. Furthermore, quantitative investigations were predominant, highlighting the efforts of Brazilian researchers to produce knowledge based on national samples that consider the cultural context.

Keywords : emotional regulation; self-control; self-regulation; emotional control..
