ARAUJO, Mara Livia de y LOPES, Renata Ferrarez Fernandes. Development of a cognitive behavioural inventory for therapeutic alliance assessment. Rev. bras.ter. cogn. [online]. 2015, vol.11, n.2, pp.86-95. ISSN 1808-5687. https://doi.org/10.5935/1808-5687.20150013.
Therapeutic relationship has been considered the primary component directly related to psychotherapy effectiveness. Considering the importance of the alliance between therapist and patient towards the progress of the psychotherapeutic treatment, the present study aimed to develop an instrument, the Cognitive-Behavioral Inventory for Therapeutic Alliance Assessment. It evaluates the nature of the therapeutic relationship from the therapist perspective, from theoretical assumptions developed by J. Beck. A sample of 38 psychologists specialized in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy participated in this study, being that 8 acted as trial judges, listing the created items in pre-established categories, and 30 psychologists answered the inventory comprised of 29 statements. Through the Kappa acceptance index, used by the judges, adequate general acceptance was evidenced (κ = 0.75) among the judges. The results also showed that the Cognitive-Behavioral Inventory for Therapeutic Alliance Assessment presented satisfactory levels of reliability estimates (Cronbach alpha = 0,853). Overall, this work contributes by making an instrument available that allows for the evaluation of therapeutic relationship according to the Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy assumptions. More statistical analyzes are needed in order to verify the validity of the instrument.
