MARIN, Angela Helena et al. Social-emotional competence: concepts and associated instruments. Rev. bras.ter. cogn. [online]. 2017, vol.13, n.2, pp.92-103. ISSN 1808-5687. https://doi.org/10.5935/1808-5687.20170014.
The socio-emotional competence construct has been highlighted in the literature for its relation to the quality of development and social and emotional adjustment of children and adolescents, contributing both to the promotion and evaluation of the level of pleasure and well-being throughout life. However, a plurality is observed in relation to the way it has been defined and evaluated in many studies. In this sense, the present study aimed to review the social-emotional competence construct, identifying how it has been presented in national and international studies, in order to distinguish it from other associated constructs, as well as to track instruments that have been used for its evaluation. It is argued that social-emotional competence is a complex construct, which includes other concepts, such as that of skills, being related to the concepts of emotional intelligence and social-emotional development.
