Abstract
ROCHA, Luiz Fellipe Dias da; OLIVEIRA, Evlyn Rodrigues and KAPPLER, Stella Rabello. Countertransference in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy: a review of brazilian literature. Rev. bras.ter. cogn. [online]. 2017, vol.13, n.2, pp.104-112. ISSN 1808-5687. https://doi.org/10.5935/1808-5687.20170015.
Countertransference is known as the therapist's reactions to the patient and is a fundamental element in the relationship between them. However, it may be neglected by some cognitive-behavioral therapists because they overestimate the efficacy of the techniques employed by this approach and/or refer it to psychoanalytic concepts. Thus, the present article analyze brazilian studies developed on countertransference within the approach of cognitive-behavioral therapy through a narrative review of the literature, from scientific articles and book chapters. The results revealed a shortage of productions on the subject, indicating a predominance of theoretical studies to the detriment of empirical studies. In addition, a greater number of boobk chapter publications were observed in comparisons with articles. The studies analyzed indicated that the countertransference, if understood, not ignored and well managed can bring benefits to the clinical practice, as well as to the person of the psychotherapist. It is hoped that this review will contribute to future publications on this subject and collaborates in the instrumentalization of cognitive-behavioral therapists with regard to the identification and management of countertransference.
