The COVID-19 pandemic made necessary to take security measures as a way for disease prevention and control, being social distancing one of the main ones. Among the risk groups for complications of this disease, the elderly, especially those in longterm care facilities (LTCF), were one of the most psychologically affected. Social isolation, loneliness and depressive symptoms increased among them. In this context, telecommunication technologies are important means to facilitate social interactions and health care. Thus, this article describes an online intervention, based on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Positive Psychology, carried out with two groups of elderly people from a LTCF. Focusing on six character strengths (Love, Curiosity, Hope, Gratitude, Forgiveness and Zest), that aimed to improve mood and promote well-being. The experience reported here highlights the need and the possibility of carrying out interventions via internet with residents of LTCF, as well as the need for research on the subject.
