There is a growing interest in mindfulness practices for the purpose of stress reduction and skill-building in the university context. Therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between dispositional mindfulness, mindfulness practice, stress, and coping strategies in young Brazilian university students. An online crosssectional survey was conducted with 609 participants. The instruments used were the Philadelphia Mindfulness Scale, the Brief COPE, and the Perceived Stress Scale. Practitioners showed lower scores in perceived stress, higher scores in dispositional mindfulness, and appeared to use healthy coping strategies more frequently. The correlations between the variables indicated an inverse relationship between mindfulness and stress, a positive relationship between stress and unhealthy coping, as well as a positive relationship between mindfulness and healthy coping. It is hoped that this study will provide support for the development of projects aimed at stress reduction, skills teaching, and mindfulness integration in the university population.
