This study aimed to conduct an integrative review of trials that used cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) as a specific approach in interventions targeting the psychological consequences of child sexual abuse. The review provides an overview of national and international data on the effectiveness of CBT, obtained from searches conducted on the Lilacs, SciELO, PubMed, PsycINFO, and Scopus databases. After applying the selection criteria, eight articles were obtained. These studies addressed the effectiveness of CBT, pointing to promising results in reducing undesirable behaviors stemming from anxiety, anger/aggression, symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and externalizing and internalizing behavioral problems. Four of the articles discussed the use of CBT only in individual therapy, while the others also addressed its application in group therapy. A specific approach known as trauma-focused CBT was the most used, and the reviewed studies demonstrated its effectiveness for cases of child victims of sexual abuse. All the research showed an improvement in the negative consequences of child sexual abuse, indicating the potential benefits of this approach in cases of child sexual abuse.
