DE-AMORIM, Camila Alves; DOS-ANJOS, Nilton y NEUFELD, Carmem Beatriz. Intervenciones cognitivo-conductuales para jóvenes latinoamericanos: una revisión de escopo. Rev. bras.ter. cogn. [online]. 2024, vol.20, e20240447. Epub 16-Dic-2024. ISSN 1808-5687. https://doi.org/10.5935/1808-5687.20240447.
Evidence suggests that cultural adaptations of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) have benefits in the treatment of various ethnic groups. The findings are limited when it comes to young Latinos. The aim of this study was to conduct a synthesis of the available evidence on the culturally adapted components of cognitive-behavioral interventions with direct or indirect effects on Latin American children and/or adolescents. In this scoping review, the PubMed, PsychINFO, BVSalud, Scopus, Scielo and Web of Science databases were used to identify articles in English, Portuguese and Spanish. 13 articles from 2015 to 2024 were included and reported the construction, implementation or evaluation of adapted or original CBT interventions with direct or indirect effects on Latin American children and/or adolescents. The Cultural Treatment Adaptation Framework (CTAF) was used to organize the levels and extent of cultural adaptations. The results showed that 13 publications dealt with cultural adaptations to increase the participation, receptivity and understanding of intervention users. One study (n=1) reported modifications to central therapeutic elements responsible for mediating symptom change. The findings revealed fidelity to the core components of CBT interventions. Adaptations of peripheral components suggest that they are relevant to making the programs according to the cultural values of young Latin Americans.
