Abstract

KUHN, Helena Favarini; BAYER, Andressa Sevéro; FIGUEIREDO, Laura Cesar  and  OLIVEIRA, Clarissa Tochetto de. Guidelines for the development of health educational materials. Rev. bras.ter. cogn. [online]. 2025, vol.21, e20250566.  Epub Jan 09, 2026. ISSN 1808-5687.  https://doi.org/10.5935/1808-5687.20250566.

The use of educational materials as a health intervention makes it possible to clarify the population’s doubts about a topic. Following a standard for developing these materials can predict their effectiveness. Given the lack of procedural guidance, this study aims to develop guidelines for the elaboration and evaluation of health educational materials. This is a methodological study in which health educational materials were analyzed in four stages: a) identification of the guidances need; b) data search and summarization; c) data analysis; and d) organization of guidelines. A checklist was created for evaluators, professionals, and patients. It is necessary to develop materials that consider the target audience’s level of literacy, with a design that is easy to understand.
