Specific instruments for assessing Early Maladaptive Schemas help therapists identify schemas and tailor interventions. The evaluation of Schema Modes and Parental Styles is essential to understand the impact of schemas on daily life and guide effective interventions. This study aims to present and discuss validated instruments for the Brazilian context that assess schemas, modes, and Parental Styles, including mechanisms of avoidance and compensation, while also exploring the applicability of these instruments in clinical populations with various mental and personality disorders. It is a mapping review conducted between November and December 2024. The findings indicate that a research group from a private Brazilian university adapted the instruments Young Schema Questionnaire S2, Young Schema Questionnaire - S3, Young-Rygh Avoidance Inventory, Young Compensation Inventory, and Schema Mode Inventory for the Brazilian context, while the Young Parental Style Inventory was adapted by a researcher from a federal Brazilian university. All instruments showed Cronbach’s alpha values ranging from “Good” to “Excellent.” The assessment of schemas, modes, and Parental Styles is crucial in clinical samples as these constructs are fundamental to understanding and treating mental and personality disorders.
