Considering clinical supervision as one of the pillars of training of clinical psychologists, the present study aimed to investigate the emotions experienced by apprentice psychotherapists during supervisions of internship in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. A clinical-qualitative study was carried out through interviews with twenty-seven students who were doing internships in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, in four Higher Education Institutions. The collected data were submitted to content analysis and discussed based on the psychoanalytic framework. The analysis of the results showed that the emotional experiences of the apprentice psychotherapists were mainly related to learning of theoretical-methodological content, and the need to be welcomed and to share with the supervisory group the emotional intensities experienced in the clinic. Finally, the need to welcome and understand the emotional experiences of apprentice psychotherapists during internships in psychoanalytic psychotherapy was highlighted.
