Understanding the violence against women demands an analysis that approaches the diversity of structural, historical, and contextual aspects. On the other hand, the aggression established by the gender dimension occurs in the discursive forms and in the system of values that characterize the female figure as fragile, less capable of reasoning, besides other inferior characterizations. This introjection does not operate only in the symbolic order. It structures social communities that maximize the relations historically marked by the inequality between men and women, reaching all social classes, ethnicities, religions, and cultures. Transmitted by generations through memory, the conception of what is to be a woman pursues a different path of subjectification. Based on the method Life Story and considering the claims mentioned, this research analyzes interviews of five women aged between 55 and 80 years old and the violence that they endured. The observation developed in this study reveals that the re-edition of violent experiences, by new generations, might indicate the maintenance of women’s subordination versus male oppression.
