HEINEN, Marina; SARTORETTO, Carolina Rolim e OLIVEIRA, Margareth Da Silva. Association of psychopatological symptoms between children and responsible. Contextos Clínic [online]. 2020, vol.13, n.1, pp.86-104. ISSN 1983-3482. https://doi.org/10.4013/ctc.2020.131.05.
This study aimed to present the relationship of psychopathological symptoms between children and caregivers. This is a quantitative and cross-sectional study. For the evaluation, the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL/6-18) and the Adult Self-Report (ASR) were used. These inventories evaluate clinical and functioning aspects of children and those responsible. 70 adults participated, filling out both inventories. The data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) program version 24.0. The symptoms evaluated were based in the variables of the inventories. The results presented a positive correlation between the symptoms of anxiety/depression, isolation/depression, somatic problems, internalizing problems, externalizing problems and total problems between adults and children. There was a discrepancy in the classification of scores between adults and children in the variables anxiety/depression and total problems. These results showed a positive correlation between psychopathological symptoms of caregivers and the existence of the same symptoms in children. These findings are in line with studies that point out the importance of the family component as a risk factor for the development of symptoms of mental disorders in childhood. Thus, it is necessary to consider the protective and risk factors when evaluating and planning the treatment of children and adolescents.
