ROSA, Laura Canani da; PEDROTTI, Bruna Gabriella; MALLMANN, Manoela Yustas  e  FRIZZO, Giana Bitencourt. Coparenting and mother's support network role in infant's digital media use. Contextos Clínic [online]. 2020, vol.13, n.3, pp.786-806. ISSN 1983-3482.

Caring for an infant is a complex task and with so many other demands, being able to count on a support network can be essential for parents. However, establishing combinations with them on how this care will be performed can be a challenge, especially regarding to digital media's use. The aim of the present study was to investigate who integrates the support networks of mothers that use digital media in their routine with their children and those who do not, their coparenting processes and understand their possible influences on infants' access to digital media. Fifteen mothers of infants aged between 3 and 24 months participated in this study. Eight mothers reported that they did not offer digital media to their children and 7 did. From thematic analysis, it was identified that infants' grandparents were both the main support network for mothers, and also the main source of children exposure to screens. Although the support network is considered as an alternative to the use of screens, it can comprise another source of access for infants to digital media, even without family consensus.
