Online psychotherapy has been evaluated as an alternative modality of treatment for users of alcohol and other drugs and for other disorders, but little is known about the therapeutic process. This study aims to evaluate the therapeutic alliance and treatment satisfaction in Internet-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (ICBT) for alcoholic patients. This is a multiple cases study using a sample selected from a randomized clinical trial. Data analysis was performed using data triangulation – qualitatively and quantitatively. The results show that quality therapeutic alliance was formed and that patients were satisfied with the treatment; these results are comparable to those obtained with the face-to-face therapy. The results contribute to a better understanding of the therapeutic process in ICBT and indicate that this may be a viable treatment alternative for alcoholic patients.
