This study aims to identify family variables effectively associated with the offender behavior, comparing adolescents judicialized and non-judicialized by the Family Control Model; it includes variables relating to six dimensions: socioeconomic status, family structure, marital status, parental models, family bonds and constraints. The Brazilian version of the Family Scale, linked to the Model, a a sociodemographic questionnaire were applied in 68 male adolescents (36 offenders and 32 nonoffenders). Statistical analysis indicated differences between groups in three dimensions (socioeconomic status, family bonds and constraints). The families of offenders, in addition to experiencing more adversities, have weaker ties and more difficulty to control the behavior of their youth. Studies with larger and more diverse samples should be implemented.
