The perception of death is studied from different perspectives. From the psychological point of view, the way the subject perceives death and dying can be divided into positive and negative attitudes, and sociodemographic and personality factors can contribute to the understanding of death. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the different forms of perception of death, sociodemographic variables and pathological functioning of the personality in 327 adults listed. Differences between men and women were found, with women presenting a more positive perception of death. Other variables such as age, schooling and religious beliefs were associated with this positive perception. Finally, more pathological functioning of the personality is associated with negative perceptions of death. Final considerations are made based on the literature and additional studies are proposed.
