In Palliative Care, social networks and social support play a decisive role in coping with crisis situations. This study aimed to carry out an integrative review of empirical articles on the repercussion of significant social networks of patients in palliative care. The PsycINFO, Web of Science and Scopus databases were consulted, and studies published from 2007 to 2018 were selected, resulting in 23 international articles and one national article. The analysis was caried out using Atlas.ti 7.5 software and indicated the importance of support from the family, friends, people in the community, spiritual/religious beliefs and health professionals; feelings about social isolation and relational changes; concerns about significant people in the process of dying; and the appreciation of farewell rituals. There is a need for better research on the specificities of the functions of significant social networks, especially in Brazil.
