Social skills and community values should be promoted from early childhood. Children’s stories are important resources for this. This study aims to: (1) identify children’s books that parents, teachers, psychotherapists, and researchers use the most with preschoolers, and identify the social skills and values therein addressed; (2) identify differences and similarities between the participants when choosing the books. Based on the answers to the questionnaires designed especially for this research, we were able to verify the tendency of parents and teachers to choose classical titles, and the tendency of psychotherapists and researchers to choose books related to interpersonal development. We discuss the importance of providing more diversity of children’s stories that, in addition to developing a taste for reading, promote values of coexistence important for life.
