The present study aimed to adapt the Multidimensional Jealousy Scale (MJS) to Brazil, gathering evidence of validity and reliability. Two hundred and eighty-three people participated (Mage= 25.04; SDage = 7.64; 72.4% women). Through a Confirmatory Factor Analysis (Diagonally Weighted Least Squares estimator), we verified an adequate model fit with indicators that supported the three interrelated factors of the MJS (e.g., CFI = .99, TLI = .99, RMSEA = .034), with internal consistency coefficients ranging from .83 (emotional jealousy) to .91 (cognitive jealousy). Moreover, these factors presented significant correlations with the Romantic Jealousy Scale and Inventory, endorsing the convergent validity of the MJS. The results support the multidimensional model of romantic jealousy. The MJS is a theoretically grounded instrument that covers both normal and pathological expressions of jealousy, with strong psychometric properties. Therefore, such measure is an alternative for studies that seek to understand the antecedents and consequences of romantic jealousy.
