BINI, Mara Cristina Normidio e SILVA, Andressa Melina Becker da. Violence against women: a systematic literature review from the perspective of psychology. Gerais, Rev. Interinst. Psicol. This study aimed to analyze what scientific studies describe about violence against women, specifically regarding the types of violence, the interventions carried out with women and the coping strategies they use. A systematic review of the literature from the last five years was carried out on the Virtual Health Library, SciELO and PePSIC databases. In total, 11,537 articles were obtained and 43 were selected for reading according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. In 87.04% of the studies, the main perpetrator of violence was the victim’s acquaintance. The most frequent type of violence was physical violence accompanied by psychological and sexual violence. The use of alcohol and illicit drugs was the major risks factor. Violence harms women’s physical and psychological health. Psychological care and social support proved effective in reducing suffering. Future research should investigate adaptive coping strategies, and public politics dealing with this issue should be created.
